Anterior Repositioning Splint (ARPS)

A full coverage splint used to treat patients who suffer from internal derangement of the Temporomandibular joint with a displaced disc, which reduces on opening. The aim of the therapeutic intervention is to re-establish a correct disc-condyle relationship to achieve painless and functional mandibular movements. The Anterior Repositioning splint is fabricated on the mandible and constructed in 3mm Erkoloc-Pro material. The splint guides the mandible downwards and forward into a protrusive position.

Studies have shown that a 24-hour pattern of splint usage gives the optimum results and is based upon the assumption that the head of the condyle needs to be held in close relationship with the disc continuously for a long period of time.
